Primary Research

This is the first part of my primary research, my survey. I found one question that could be used for quantitative results, quantitative means that it uses quantity to define the answers.
These can then be put into a graph for further data recording and display.
Also, I have taken several pictures of the countryside and the place where I live to get some inspiration.
This is the only question that shows any kind of split in the decisions of people... At least this way there's some variety.
Another peice of qualitive results for my survey is the following sceenshot from survey monkey:
The above screenshot shows that 100% of the people who took the survey knew what a 2D/ Retro game was, as expected modern day society prooves that, even though most (but not all) people stick to 3D games rather than 2D games, there still is a presents of 2D games though, there are quite a lot of people who like 2D games in the 21st century some would expect... Personally I like both 2D and 3D games, I play a 2D game called Terraria and a 3D game called Minecraft Pocket Edition, these are pretty similar in the kind of objectives you have to complete and the fact they are both adventure/ indie/ survival games.
I have also found a section that I made where people answered if they knew or had played any 2D games.
100% of the people who responded to the survey put a game answer into the first responce box and 87.50% of the people who responded to the survey put a game answer into the second responce box.

“Double knot is an independent film production

To be fair, whether ReVeN will employ classic Metroidvania
exploration and backtracking is unclear from the video, but what is clear is
that the team takes a lot of inspiration from the legendary Nintendo franchise.
The developer is named Varia Games, after all.
Samurai Shodown
ReVen
This is a screenshot of the background for the game "ReVen", this is not an in-game screenshot, it is from a trailer that I found on a website.

I like this logo because it glows in the dark and it has a very retro feel to it... it's very eye catching and that is the reason why I decided to choose that game.
My coder left me alone, I need help!
This looks like quite a enjoyable game, apparently it's endless... in my opinion I don't have the patients to do that kind of thing, regardless I do like the look of it.... and it might be appealing to someone more patient than me, or at least the people who made it would expect it to appeal to a young audience rather than an older one like people around my age.http://community.stencyl.com/index.php?topic=30143.0
The title of the game connected to the image below is unknown.
I like this image because it is very colorful and eye catching, it looks very attractive and magical, this might end up being a pretty good game to try and make myself if/ when I manage to learn the skills to do so.
Heroes of Loot
I like this game background because it is very basic, the controls of the game (in the bottom right hand corner) suggests that the game is optimized for mobile devices rather than that of PCs or game consoles; there are some monsters and there is also a "Shop" in there too, a place you can upgrade your character.
Metal Slug 2
I like this background because it has a storm cloud with light shining out from it and a forest on fire in the background and the house is there in the foreground which looks abandoned (or at least that's what is's supposed to look like).https://uk.pinterest.com/pin/214554369721623861/
Spectrum: First Light
I like this background because it has a scene of misery and abnormality about it, the way the trees are colored in kind of makes out that either there's a fire in the far background or the sun is making the general orange tinge between the trees.http://kotaku.com/the-best-2d-arcade-game-backgrounds-511034540
“2D,
or two-dimensional, is the concept of everything being on one plane of
existence. A being within a two-dimensional plane can only move along the
horizontal X-axis and the vertical Y-axis. The Z-axis, which defines depth, is
considered null”.

Some great Research here Daniel.
